The yellowfin tuna, found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide, is a sizable species, reaching over 180 kg but smaller than bluefin and bigeye tunas. Marketed as ahi, it is distinct from albacore despite confusion in nomenclature. Recognizable by bright yellow fins, the species has a dark metallic blue body with silver on the belly. A record-breaking yellowfin, weighing 193.68 kg, caught in 2012 off Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, holds the International Game Fish Association record.
