Bullet Tuna

The bullet tuna (Auxis rochei) is a tropical species found globally, including the Mediterranean Sea, in open surface waters up to 50 meters deep. It can reach a maximum length of 50 cm and is sometimes classified as a separate species, Auxis eudorax, in the Eastern Pacific. Recognized for its small size and triangular first dorsal fin, it has a blue-black back with zig-zag markings and a silver underside. Feeding on small fish, squid, planktonic crustaceans, and stomatopod larvae, it is also known as the bullet mackerel.
